KEYNOTE SPEAKING

In the Baghavad Gita, one of the Hindu religions greatest literary and spiritual works, the hero Arjuna is told by a wise prince Sri Krishna (a representation of the supreme being) that “when a person is devoted to something with complete faith, I unify his faith in that. Then, when his faith is completely unified, he gains the object of his devotion.” This an important insight when exploring how committed we are to a person or project, and how we use words like ‘maybe’ and ‘i’ll try’ to ensure that we have a back door in case we change our mind, or things don’t go quite as we liked. imagine we said to our lover “I’ll try and be your husband” or to our boss “I’ll try and be an employee”… it just wouldn’t work.

This same level of commitment can be brought to bare on our life and social change goals. When we are truly committed to something, with all our being and in every cell in our body, it will be come into being. Therefore the inner revolutionary looks with a steely gaze at just how committed she really is.
